The Perfect Winter Wedding Flowers

Dec, 2014

It’s a grey, rainy day here in Boston, but I’m still on Cloud 9 after my wedding this past weekend to the most wonderful guy I know!  I’m really a very private person, and don’t often post about myself, but I’m still giddy… so why not!

Of course, given my profession, it was so important to me to have gorgeous flowers at our wedding.  I know a lot about trees, shrubs and perennials, but cut flowers and flower arranging is really a unique art.  I did a lot of research and ended up selecting  LauraJean Floral and Design (out of Cambridge) for the event.  I met with LJ and she totally understood the look I was going for.  Intimate, classy, light filled and lush.  Though our wedding was in December, I wanted to avoid the typical holiday colors, instead, I wanted to fill the room with candlelight, silver and white!

For an amazing picture of my bouquet on the big day, the incredibly talented Lauren Methia took this picture.

Here are some of my own pictures of the flowers (and they’re still looking good 5 days later!) and a break down of what LJ included to create this gorgeous look.

Whites and pinks with lots of loose green foliage. The centerpieces were in gorgeous silver bowls. The roses are started to fade a bit, 5 days later, but I’m still loving these arrangements around the house!

What wedding would be complete without roses! LJ used a mix of white and very light pink roses to create depth while keeping the palette light.

White ranunculus is so romantic with its delicate, curved, almost translucent petals

The little pop of chartreuse is vining hellebore. These offered some depth to the darker green foliage and lots of movement.

Oh how I love Lisianthus! The fully opened white bloom is stunning, but the unopened buds gave the arrangements height and repeated the bit of chartreuse from the hellebore

LJ used just a few, huge white peonies to anchor the arrangements. This one is a bit faded now, but the size and frilly petals were just stunning

I couldn’t have been happier with how the flowers turned out.  LauraJean did such an incredible, artistic job, I can’t wait for the professional photographs.  And, for the holidays, we now have a lush, light, flower filled house to enjoy!
