This beautiful, updated, cedar shingle home in Westport was situated in an open space surrounded by woodlands. The owner wanted the landscape to reflect the quiet, pastoral feel of the local landscape.
The new design includes a long fieldstone wall that borders the winding gravel driveway to the house. A meadow garden helps transition from the lawn and garden to the natural woodland. An orchard, separated from the driveway by a rustic post and rail fence, provides a variety of fruit. Around the house, grasses and perennials in tones of white and purple lend a calm, seaside feeling to the space. Bluestone, granite and gravel hardscape provide a strong geometry to the property while retaining a natural feel.
