I just got back from a great conference in Atlanta for writers, designers and generally anyone in the garden industry that wants to use blogs and social media more effectively in their business. It was a great opportunity to meet some people who are real leaders and taste-makers in the industry.
I started this blog last year, really as a way to explore the elements of a “nature inspired lifestyle” (I’m making up that phrase but it seems to work!) The concept behind Open Air Life is that when we connect to nature, in a broad sense, we are better off. That can mean anything from getting outside for a hike, growing your own vegetables, or just slowing down to appreciate the beauty around us.
You can read my first post about the topic, and the story behind the name, in Translating Friluftsliv.
A beautiful, nature inspired display, is worth stopping to appreciate |
While I didn’t earn an award, there were a great group of people who did. If you’re interested in gardens, landscape, or nature in general, these blogs are all worth checking out.
For a great resource on organic fruit and vegetable gardening, check out Born to Grow
If you’re a plant lover who swoon over beautiful photography, take a look at Beyond the Wild Garden
Didn’t think gardening could be politically charged or funny, you haven’t checked out Garden Rant, the winner in the writing category.
And the overall winner is A Way to Garden for everything from plant care, to recipes, to garden chore lists and other musings.
Happy reading and happy gardening!
